Self-Knowledge

Who are you?

The great thing about you is you are the only you. Yes, we are all one, but within this one is one you. ♥️

So, who are you?
You are your Self.

What is the Self?

Without the mind, there is no reality. It is our reality. Within it, within you, lies the Self.

So, what is the Self?
The union of conscious and unconscious content in the mind. (See 2nd picture of this post for a visual)

What are conscious contents?

The threshold of what is know, all that we allow into our reality, all that we judge and order.

So, what is consciousness?
All in awareness.

What are unconscious contents?

Suppressed thoughts, feelings, past experienced, inherited traits, and archetypes.

So, what is the unconscious?

All out of awareness.

In the middle of the two is the Self.

So, Self-knowledge begins at placing your attention on both realms. An honest look without ego judgement.

Self-Knowledge Tips

Tip 1: Keep a note in your phone or a journal handy to track good or bad moments of instincts and reactions. What triggered it? What did you think and how did you feel? Negative emotional reactions can provide insights to a place that needs work, while moments of passion and peace provide wisdom of something that your Self enjoys.

Tip 2: Journal your dreams. Dreams can provide insights to the unconscious. Don’t get tied up on specifics of the dreams, rather the broad sense of what they are outlining. I have had clients amazed at the power in looking back at old dreams in their journal.

Tip 3: Listen to others. Sometimes we are blind to our own shortcomings, traits, or instincts. Others may provide wisdom towards your Self. As we all love to talk, a practice of listening (without judgement) will allow for self-truths to be known.

Tip 4:
Remember you are unique from another. Some things may work for you, as certain exercise or diet may benefit you, while others may not. It is important to stay curious and be aware of what works for YOU.
.
Self-knowledge begins at awareness and ends in wisdom. Wisdom only occurs when knowledge is processed correctly. For this to occur, we must accept what we have learned.
