The Anima
The Unconscious Realm - Exploring The Anima
•
We briefly discussed the role of the syzygy in the introduction. We all have traits of the opposite gender buried within our unconscious mind. This post will outline the anima.
•
The anima is born in youth; typically related to the mother figure. The anima is suppressed feminine traits within the unconscious mind. These energies are hidden due to cultural norms.
Men feel they need to be “macho” and hide these inner tendencies. Hence, this builds the unconscious nature of the inner anima.
•
The anima, or feminine energy, has both positive and negative elements.
Such is energy (+-)
•
Generally
Positive (+) feminine tendencies include: nurturing, loving, patient, creative, and intuitive reactions.
Negative (-) feminine tendencies include: insecure, indecisive, moody, and hypersensitive reactions.
•
If a man has not integrated this energy into being, they lie dormant in the unconscious. The negative tendencies above arise unconsciously, leading men to projections.
The anima may also be projected on a beautiful woman and could cause a “love at first sight” moment, unaware of her true nature. This false sense of love can lead to troubles down the road.
•
In addition, there is are positives to the anima. For example, when a man cannot make a decision, it is his inner anima (intuition) that he relies on.
•
The anima, like the shadow, needs to be integrated. If not, it may result in possession of the ego. Before we talk about becoming “anima possessed” we need to talk to the ladies. Within women lies the animus. This will be the next topic of discussion.
“Women are a magical force.”
