Projections Of The Shadow.

Words have power. A projection is defined in the dictionary as, “the presentation of an image on a surface.”

Without awareness of the projector, the shadow, we may project something lurking within that we have yet to acknowledge about ourselves. The presentation of this image is typically projected onto others.

”One is fooled by all illusions that arise when one sees everything that they are unconscious of within coming to meet you from outside as projections upon your neighbor.” - C. G. Jung
.
A Few Examples of Projections

- Jealousy -

When we are envious of another’s behavior, it may be a reflection of something within that we need to bring to conscious awareness.

In addition, if we feel judged by others, it may actually be a projection of a judgement you have about yourself.

- Anger -

If we deny our anger, we may begin to become attracted to the anger in others. We become offended by others anger due to our lack of embracing our own hidden anger.

- Dreams -

Dreams provide keys to understanding our unconscious mind. Some dreams may symbolize our shadow speaking to us through symbols and stories. You may find some inner wisdom in reflecting and interpreting dreams.
.
In projections, we may start the assimilation process with our shadow. It is a guide to wisdom about areas that need attention in our lives. As Jung states,

“The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge. " - C. G. Jung

True self-knowledge is found within. Dance with your shadow, look for your projections, and begin the process of becoming your true self.
